ESTIV is a leading international forum for advances in in vitro toxicology, New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), and human-relevant safety assessment technologies. As the pharmaceutical industry continues to seek more predictive, mechanism-based, and human-relevant platforms for drug discovery and safety evaluation, NAMs are becoming increasingly important in translational decision-making.
At the meeting, Toshio Suzuki, Head of Translational Science at HiLung, will introduce HiLung’s drug discovery platform that integrates pulmonary fibrosis organoids with spatial omics technologies. This platform is being developed as part of an AMED-supported drug discovery infrastructure research project, for which Dr. Suzuki serves as the R&D lead.
By combining human iPSC-derived lung organoid technology with single-cell-level spatial molecular profiling, the platform is designed to provide high-resolution insights into cell–cell interactions, disease progression, and drug responses in pulmonary fibrosis and other forms of aberrant tissue remodeling.
HiLung aims to contribute to the development of more predictive and clinically relevant respiratory disease models that can support target validation, mechanism-of-action studies, efficacy evaluation, and next-generation safety assessment.
