HiLung Director / Head of Translational Science Toshio Suzuki Delivers Lecture at the University of Tokyo Genome School 2024

HiLung Inc. is pleased to announce that Toshio Suzuki, Head of Translational Science at HiLung, delivered a lecture at Genome School 2024, hosted by the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo, on November 7, 2024.
The lecture was titled “Preclinical Testing Platforms and Drug Discovery for Intractable Respiratory Diseases Using Lung Stem Cell and Regenerative Technologies.”
In this lecture, Dr. Suzuki introduced HiLung’s efforts to develop preclinical testing platforms for intractable respiratory diseases by applying lung stem cell and regenerative technologies, including human iPSC-derived lung organoids.
For diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, drug-induced lung injury, and lung cancer, conventional animal models and two-dimensional culture systems often fail to fully recapitulate human lung-specific disease progression and drug responses. HiLung aims to establish human-relevant preclinical platforms that reflect the complex cellular composition and cell–cell interactions of the human lung, supporting target discovery, efficacy evaluation, and safety assessment.
HiLung remains committed to advancing respiratory disease modeling by integrating lung stem cell biology, organoid engineering, and spatial omics technologies, thereby contributing to drug discovery and translational science.
